Cultural Work Connecting Palestinian and Jewish Histories to Collective Liberation
Curated by Ethan Heitner. Ethan is a member of the JVP Artist Council, and is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist living and working in Brooklyn, NYC.
In 2014, during the summer bombing of Gaza, I put out a call for artists to contribute graphics to the BDS movement. I put the best of what I received up on a tumblr called Handala Has a Posse, in tribute to Handala, the iconic character created by Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali, and in mocking reference to Shephard Fairey's "Andre the Giant Has a Posse."
Some content from that tumblr is not included here, including many cartoons from the prolific Latuff, the folio of prints and images from the "Imaging Apartheid" collective in Canada (because you should go out and seek them out on your own, and I don't really have good copies of those images) and more animations of Waled Zaiter which are amazing and beautiful but can't be included here for format reasons.
Please include credit for the artists when using and reproducing these images. All graphics given free to use by the BDS movement from their creators. Please consider supporting artists with $ when you can.
